Captain Randy Ellis has spent the last fifteen years serving the citizens of Hood County. As a native to Hood County and the Granbury area he went into Law Enforcement with the sole purpose of protecting the county and community that he grew up in and had grown to love. Through faith and with integrity, he continues to serve all of the citizens of Hood County, and all those who are assigned to work under his command.

Captain Ellis currently holds an Advanced Peace Officer license and has held several different ranks and titles during his career in law enforcement. A career that began in Lipan when he was hired on as the first full time Marshal the city ever had; two years later he signed on with the Hood County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Deputy, later promoting through the ranks of Patrol Sergeant and Patrol Lieutenant; currently holding the rank of Captain over the Criminal Division, which includes Patrol, Dispatch, the Jail, the Mental Health Division and the Hood County Sheriff’s Office clerical staff.

During his tenure with the Hood County Sheriff’s Office, he has been utilized as a Field Training Officer and both a TCOLE and ALERT instructor. He also spent a little over 5 years as a member of the Hood County SWAT team, as well as donating his time, during those 5 years, to be a part of the Sheriff’s Rifle Team and Honor Guard.

Captain Ellis was humbled when he was awarded “The Life Saving Award”; he has also been recognized during his service as a Texas Peace Officer by being awarded a Marshals Commendation as well as 3 separate Sheriff’s Commendations; he also proudly displays two plaques in his office that he received after being voted Supervisor of the Year, by his peers in both 2010 and 2013.
