Denise Lizun serves as a Lieutenant in The Mental Health Division at the Hood County Sheriff’s Office. Lt Lizun is passionate about service and her community and is a long time Hood County resident. In 2010, Lt Lizun graduated the Police Academy and began her Law Enforcement career. She currently holds a Master Peace Officer license. She is a Mental Health Officer, Field Training Officer, TCOLE Instructor, Instructor for Crisis Intervention Training, and is a member of the Honor Guard. Lt Lizun has earned numerous awards at the Hood County Sheriff’s Office including Employee of the Year, Deputy of the Year, and Letters of Commendation.
She has 20 years of experience in the field of Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and worked direct care and served as the Quality Assurance Coordinator.
Lt. Lizun gained her Bachelors of Science from Tarleton State University in Exercise and Sport Studies in 1994 and then her Masters degree from Amber University in Human Resource and Training in 1999.
In 2009 Lt. Lizun joined the Texas Army National Guard proudly serving our country for the last 10 years. She is a Sergeant and has one tour of duty in a combat zone. She has earned several Federal and State awards and commendations for her meritorious service. Lt. Lizun is proud to serve the community and our Country with integrity and selfless service.
