John Hurley, Jr was raised in Tolar and graduated from Tolar High School in 1993. He attended Weatherford College and earned his certification as Emergency Medical Technician in 1994. Mr. Hurley began his career with the Hood County Sheriff’s Office in August of 2000 as a Telecommunications Officer. He also worked for Benbrook Police Department, Texas Emergency Medical Services and has been a volunteer with Tolar Volunteer Fire Department since 1995.

He is currently the Dispatch Supervisor for the Hood County Sheriff’s Office where he is responsible for daily supervision of the 911 Telecommunications Center which consists of 16 full-time telecommunications officers answering calls from citizens for emergency and routine police, medical and fire support. Additionally, the Telecommunications Center provides support and direction to officers involved in emergency situations ranging from pursuits to critical police incidents.

Mr. Hurley is certified as an Advanced Telecommunicator, Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatcher and Emergency Medical Technician.
